Need a refresher? Remember, in 3rd we only focus on the note names for the treble clef staff :)
Don't forget to change my name to yours!
The following Nearpod activity will take you on an adventure with Mozart. (You will be asked to enter your name- please enter your name on the top line and your homeroom teacher on the bottom line.) You will first take a Google Tour of Mozart's birthplace, Vienna, Austria. Once you visit different important places in the city, you will be able to explore the 4 instrument families of the orchestra with Adobe Spark and experience some of Mozart's most famous compositions. Nearpod will ask you to answer some questions. Please don't worry about spelling! The end of the presentation will prompt you to make a presentation on what you've learned with Chatterpix- don't worry about this! We'll create some fabulous presentations when we get back together at Chalker.
Here's how you log in:
1. go toNearpod.com
2. Find "join lesson" for students and enter the following code GUQFI (capitalization doesn't matter)

In addition to exploring musical concepts with our Orff instruments, third grade is spending some time in the piano lab! We are fortunate enough at Chalker to have the space available for a room to house our electronic piano keyboards. Students bring their own earbuds/headphones and are able to pair up and learn some piano fingering. Here's a sneak peek:
I've enjoyed getting back into our music groove with our wake-up songs and games. Our third graders are able to aurally distinguish between 4 different meters, and demonstrate that with a super-fun listening/responding game using the piano. It's so nice to see kiddos that are able to move and express themselves.
Our focus for this first quarter will be on musical vocabulary and singing. Don't worry, we will accomplish this all with games, playing instruments and some silly times :)
