In 4th, we focus on the note names of the treble clef staff. It won't hurt to introduce yourselves to the bass clef as well :) Don't forget to change my name to yours!
The following Nearpod activity will take you on an adventure with Mozart. (You will be asked to enter your name- please enter your name on the top line and your homeroom teacher on the bottom line.) You will first take a Google Tour of Mozart's birthplace, Vienna, Austria. Once you visit different important places in the city, you will be able to explore the 4 instrument families of the orchestra with Adobe Spark and experience some of Mozart's most famous compositions. Nearpod will ask you to answer some questions. Please don't worry about spelling! The end of the presentation will prompt you to make a presentation on what you've learned with Chatterpix- don't worry about this! We'll create some fabulous presentations when we get back together at Chalker.
Here's how you log in:
1. go to Nearpod.com
2. Find "join lesson" for students and enter the following code GUQFI (capitalization doesn't matter)
If that log-in doesn't work, try this:
Make sure to change the name to yours!
In 4th we are knee deep in beginning recorder. Students have mastered B-A-G on the recorder and are ready to record and submit videos for their white and yellow belts for Recorder Karate. To submit your own video, follow the links under Recorder Karate on the menu bar. Make sure to read the directions carefully to log in. If I don't give immediate feedback, please be patient!
Here's a video of one of our fabulous 4th grade classes playing on their Orff instruments:
One of the funniest moments of 4th grade music is always when I have to gently let our students down by telling them that Recorder Karate involves absolutely no physical violence. You can almost see some of our kiddos deflate just a little.
Worry not! There is still much fun to be had.
Student will not need their recorders for the first class, but I would like to dive in as soon as possible. If you don't already have a recorder for your student, please look into getting one. The school store has some for sale, and they are also widely available in stores and on the internet.
Also, please use the above links to register your student for chorus, if interested. Our fist rehearsal will be the last Monday of the month after school.
